I am the rarity that did not care for Liza in Cabaret (Sally was supposed to be a second rate singer and Liza… was Liza), but thought she was an underrated dramatic and comedic actress. Her work here just reinforces my opinion of her. She was also outstanding in a guest appearance in Law & Order. Truly heartbreaking performance.

The fact that we got Judy Garland and then she gave us Liza Minnelli is an embarrassment of riches we really don’t deserve. But I’m so grateful. Minnelli should’ve won an Emmy for this role. She’s a legend and a national treasure.
