Unless you’ve been living in a hole for the last 20 years, you’ve seen that the Philippines has dominated the international beauty pageant market. From Gloria Diaz, Pia Wurtzbach, John Raspado, Catriona Grey, and many others, the Philippines has had major representation at every international contest for decades.

In the four major beauty pageant contests: Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, and Miss International, the Philippines has placed 100 times and won 15 times.

The first recorded beauty pageant in the Philippines was in 1908 at the Manila carnival. The winner won the title of “Carnival Queen” and this pageant continued until 1938.
