Contestant is electrocuted during beauty queen pageant in Mexico

Hair-raising moment beauty queen contestant is electrocuted live on stage during a pageant in Mexico after grabbing a faulty microphone.

If beauty pageants included a ‘shocking catwalk strut’ category, then this contestant would have certainly come out on top.

Andrea Granados was electrocuted live on stage while competing for the Miss Sahuayo 2022 crown in the western Mexico state of Michoacán on Sunday.

The 22-year-old was barefoot and wearing a traditional outfit covered in colorful feathers when she walked up to the microphone stand.

But after reaching for the mic to address the audience, she suddenly jolted and reeled back in shock, clutching her hand.

As she swiftly retreated from the stand, she tried to let go of the microphone – but it became stuck to her hand, causing her to fall back on the stage.

The MC can be heard shouting in Spanish: ‘She’s being electrocuted, she’s being electrocuted.’

Granados was lying on her back and managed to separate the microphone and wire to get it off her before several pageant workers raced to her side and helped her walk off the stage.

She suffered a burn to her hand – but the shocking mishap did not deter her from returning to the runway to complete her strut.

‘I came backed recharged, literally,’ she wrote. ‘Thank you for all your messages, thank God everything is fine.
