Drag Race 15 Crystal Ball: Spice Elim Drama & Loosey Delusion | Hot or Rot?
In today’s Hot or Rot? we review and react to episode 9 of rupaul’s drag race season 15: the crystal ball! Our remaining season 15 queens were challenged to serve 3 looks including Start Your Engines (a recreation of Ru’s iconic racer suit), Favorite Ball (from a prior season) and Crystalized Eleganza. We’ll be rating each Crystal Ball runway out of 5 hot flames and comparing my scorecard to the drag race judging panel’s placements, taking a look at the Spice overproduction controversy and elimination drama, and also discussing the ‘delusion’ of Loosey LaDuca.

personally, i don't get the hype over anetra's crystal look? the only impressive part is the little mermaid skirt… other than that it looks like aura's beautiful nightmare look but in a different color
Mistress was absolutely robbed of a win. Kudos to Sasha, but Mistress was polished.
Imo Mistress Isabelle Brooks was robbed this challenge. Sasha first two looks was nice but her third look was not and then Malaysia and Salina should have lip synced. Spice should have been safe this episode, even her worse look was better than some of the ones others brought from home
I literally am in loveeee with Mistress, shes smart, sassy and BEAUTIFUL! Shes a fabulous example of stunning texas drag

Sugar and Spice are not talented. Their looks are not compelling in the least. They're young. That's it.
for me loosey, Salina, and Malaysia were bottom 3. spice, mistress, and Sasha were safe. with luxx, Marcia, and anetra being top 3.
I feel like the twins should have made it way closer to the end

I was also underwhelmed with the lack of ball choices but my mom theorized that the queens were given a list of balls to choose from hence the small amount of balls. But also it's a crime no one did Hello Kitty. It was a ball, it counts.

spice has had SOOOO many bad moments this season and the one challenge that she devours she gets put in the bottom 2? make it make sense!
I was at peace with Spice leaving this ep tbh, even if it wasnt the worst shes done in recent episodes. I really really dislike the first look. It seemed like a very cheap mascot-y version of the drag race signature look, and felt like she was going to be my server at steak and shake or checkers etc etc. The callback to her "ding-a-ling" verse didnt do anything for me because the iconic part was the intro not the chorus. The second look was really fun and cute but felt like the 3rd-4th reskin of of the Sugar/Spice signature. And the Crystal look was pretty well constructed with the structured bra and tapered skirt but it didnt wow me and it still borrowed from the very similar aesthetic shes had in previous runways. The only other person who to me was debatably in the same bottom tier with Spice and Selina was Malaysia because wow oh wow did I hate her first and third looks.
And all of Spice’s critiques could have been applied to everyone else on that stage. When Michelle said that her coughing up the hair ball was overdone while Mistress’ second look and Loosey’s last look have been done multiple times on the runway….how is a runway bit something that can land you in the bottom now? Also, Spice’s skirt was not that different than Sasha’s in terms of construction

I love Salina, her energy and her ability to express unapologetically her view of drag. That said she really needs to follow the old saying of "Take one thing off before you leave the house". I think I saw an interview with one of the older Ru girls talking about how they were helping a daughter get ready for drag race and comparing it to when they got ready. They said for their season they had the runway list and from their closet they were able to put together looks for like 80% of the categories. For the younger queen they said maybe 10-20% of the categories could be covered by what was already in their closet. I think a lot of younger queens are rushed when they get cast and don't really have the time to edit
Also Salina's lip sync worked with the song or at least my interpretation of songs meaning. Its about someone wanting to to be loved by someone and at the breaking point while trying to show the world a strong face.
Marcia’s indentured servant look got a higher score than lux’s eleganza look?! Bussy, your bias is showing.
As for the lip sync, I actually felt spice won that
I was shocked they gave it to Sasha. I thought mistress deserved it for sure. I know Sasha is iconic but I feel like they are all up her butt and it takes away from the actual talent of the other ones.
Objectively speaking. Spice was not bottom 2 material
