  1. We’ve had an AFAB queen on the Aotearoa version of drag race (House of Drag) and she was great (her drag name is Bionica). Drag is so elaborate and performative that it makes no sense and feels very ahistorical to me as a queer person to say that only men can be drag queens or women can only be drag kings.

Drag is an incredibly diverse art form, and I think it can only be a good thing for the big drag tv shows to more closely reflect the range of performers you see in local drag spaces.

  2. They should give every queen a budget so they are on a relatively even playing field. It’s wild to me how they basically expect queens to take out loans to be on the show.

  3. So interesting that the Zero prize money could be causing a lack of diversity on the UK version. I'm not actually sure that is true though considering most people on drag race don't get any money if they don't win. Still, interesting theory.

  4. People expecting to see more POC queens in DR UK is just crazy. Europe is predominantly white continent, so you can't expect to have 4-5 black queens in the cast.

  5. I do, 100% think that there should be prize money with uk. I think we can agree that season 2 of uk was soooo much better than 13. And if you want to get more stunning queens on the seasons, you need to get prize money.

  6. I dont think Charity has a team… they do it by their self, which is amazing.

Shame about their past comments, dont know what they said but sounds like they have learned from it. I know Charity comes from a white working class town in the north west of England. I don't know for sure but imagine that they are not so welcoming to diversity and this made an impression on him growing up. Negativity like this can become catchy when you hear it enough. Charity has grown up wiser and more infromed, which is positive. I just hope all the right wing or people on the fence can open their minds that we are a diverse world, yet we share common hopes and care for one another or at least should. Sounds hippy but it's far better than putting someone down… i dont think that ever brings a feeling of happiness and fulfilment in life.

Forgive but you dont have to forget unless you want to.

  7. nevermind the fact that afab/bio-queens have been part of the drag scene for forever… advantages!? what about the DIS-advantages? and im not even talking about misogyny… drag is often all about challenging gender norms, making a beautiful sparkly queen have a flat chest or her real beard for example–how would an afab queen do that? women's bodies are also policed much harder than men's are and deciding to reveal body would come with a whole other set of difficulties…… but in the end ru with his uninformed way said it best "drag queens dont dress like regular women" its not about female impersonation as much as it used to be. it's PERFORMANCE! erformance caked in so much makeup and props that you couldn't begin to guess what the person looks or identifies as under all that… you wouldn't ask a clown or a mime if they have a vagina, would you ?? (drag queens are way above that art-wise imo but the point stands)

  8. Hot take but as a cis lesbian afab queens are so talented and skilled and creative and they waste it on what amounts to cosplay because they want to copy amab people and men, I don't understand why. Drag avoids being misogynistic because drag queens are more taking the piss out of themselves as queer men (or trans people) than taking the piss out of women, I feel like bioqueens misunderstand this as a gender thing when it isn't, at least not the way they do it. Drag is rebellion against homophobia, transphobia, and transmisogyny, I am friends with a couple of bioqueens and have been really trying to understand it, and my understanding is that for bioqueens it's an attempt at rebellion against misogyny, but taking the piss out of yourself for being feminine when you're a woman isn't that… I just feel like people forget that drag kings are an option because we don't get as much publicity since we can't go on Drag Race, and I am frustrated that a cis female queen got on before a king. Drag is rebellion against the discrimination queer people face, queer women aren't discriminated against for being feminine we're discriminated against for failing to be feminine, and I feel much more empowered as a woman when I bind my chest, draw on some stubble shadow, and start lip syncing like an alpha chad who is drowning in p**sy than when I'm pretending to be a hot b*mbo with too many emotions, the first makes me proud to be a woman the second just makes me uncomfortable with it

  9. I will suppose that someone already said this in the comments, but I will say it anyway hahaha. I am from Spain and "chorizo" it's not a "sausage" is a special marinated pork meat similar to the sausages. It can be sweet or spicy. And here in Spain, the word "chorizo" is used as an "insult" to robbers and politicians, and also is used to refer to man's in-between part, if you know what I mean hahaha.

  10. Well, Choriza is from Spain, so the jacket is more of a matador jacket with puffy sleeves, and color, more than a "maricahi" which are regional musicians from Mexico which outfits are more like white, black, silver and gold colors. Different aesthetic.

  11. I am SO EXCITED to see Victoria, and hopefully more afab queens in the future! Drag is the art of performing gender, periodt. People who only want to see cis gay men do female illusion are exploiting and demeaning femininity while rejecting people who live with the expectations (and consequences) of femininity 24/7. There is no gate-keeping on drag!

  12. I always thought u had to be asigned a man at birth to get to be on the show or have gotten a s×× change?? I think its awesome u say anyone can be one. Bc i love drag and if i wasnt a mom i would do it. My husband might think its weird lol
