Twenty-nine-year-old Halima Hoy has been crowned Miss Universe Belize 2024. Born and raised in the South Side of Belize City, Hoy shattered pageant stereotypes by becoming the country’s first beauty ambassador who is over the age of 28 and married. The Miss Universe pageant was held at the Belize Civic Center on Saturday night and saw ten delegates vying for the crown. Hoy, Maryam Abdul-Qawiyy and Myra Sibrian were the top three contestants heading into the final judging. Hoy, who hails from Belize City, is a certified personal trainer, and pre and post-natal fitness coach, and is currently pursuing a degree in Kinesiology-Allied Health. She hopes to someday work with the Ministry of Health and Wellness to advocate for health.
