A quintessential #HerStory – if it was supposed to be just confined to a candidate's personal story or her life's evolution. But, after watching – make that bingeing – on several other videos in this series, this one by Miss Mandaluyong Iman Franchesca Cristal came off rather hollow and self-indulgent and simply tone-deaf- made particularly so by her declaration that she happens to be someone "without a Cinderella story that shows a rags to riches… (couldn't catchthe word that came after)." Adding, "I acknowledge the privilege that I was born with." And then on cue while she was uttering those words, the camera tracked a helicopter hovering in the sky above a helipad that she was standing on atop a skyscraper, dressed in long gown finery. Oh, wow, good for her! During their time in MUPh 2020, not even the likes of Ingrid Santamaria and Ysabella Ysmael had such chutzpah in trying to impress with noblesse oblige. Nor did Michelle Dee say anything self-anointing while getting off a just-landed helicopter before resuming her display of pasarela skills in the Runway Challenge of MUPh 2021.
But it's good that Ms. Cristal has such a keen self-awareness of whatever she's accomplished so far in her young life that she's now projecting for others, specifically the less fortunate than her, to emulate. Except that there's not a lot of helipads in Mandaluyong, is there?
