I hope all girls and women watching SEE THEMSELVES somewhere in this. A world where all girls can hold a mirror up in society to other women – just as flawed, just as scarred – in all levels and arenas is a world that is better equipped to create unstoppable women.
I hope all girls are reminded that in order for our world to progress, it requires daring women unafraid to make waves.
I hope all girls recognize that even those in the modeling and beauty pageant world – women we expect to be “without flaws” are just like us – imperfectly perfect.
โBeautyโ is a 6-letter word with innumerable ways to shatter entirely or build completely. But I do believe a word with that much power has great potential. It’s time we use it for the good it can do.
Because whether it be women in the industry or not: feeling unworthy and โimperfectโ is more than a “feeling” – it seeps into every part of who we surround ourselves with, the goals we think are attainable, and the way we see ourselves when no one is around. THAT is not just a collection of feelings, it’s a way we end up choosing to live.
I often tell people that the least important or interesting thing about me is how I look. It’s true. Our video on this day is intended to highlight a deeper purpose we have to challenge issues we all have lived through.
