I got a lot of comments to argue with you. If that's racism then how about other woman who use to straighten their curly hair from having those kinky curly hairs. I do get some of your point that it was subjective to racist. But it was styling. The team has to create some looks for her to outstand now if you don't like it and you felt bad and you wanna convey the world that only afro has the right to kind of wear like that then you're also discriminating. In the context of pageantry we also have this artistry and we want the best for our candidates to shine on stage. It was only a photoshoot a glamshot. And there were no racism being convey with the message. However if that crosses the idea cultural understanding then as Filipinos or side of Herlene we deeply apologized.
We are of diverse beauty and we are so eccentric in a way that we have different hair types ,hair color and different skin type.

Can you control your anger with Herlene. she was a very kind and humble woman. She joined the beauty pageant for the advocacy of autism children. You don't know her very well. She didn’t ruin someone’s life. Hopefully you can spread love, not anger.

Also these state pageants need to do better. I remember growing up seeing Miss Texas USA on local TV. I also remember seeing Miss Corpus Christi USA 1998 Eva Longoria competing for Miss Texas USA. Also, followed Crystle Stewart's journey to win Miss Texas USA on her 5th try to Miss USA to the Miss Universe stage. Fun fact: Eva is an alumni of my high school and college Texas A&M University Kingsville (TAMUK) where she was Miss TAMUK as well. I now live in Colorado Springs, Colorado home of the US Olympic Committee and they wouldn't accept mediocracy at the Olympic Games so shouldn't the Miss USA organization we should be going for gold every year.
Texas is my winner for Miss USA 2022 and it should be noted that the current Miss USA/Miss Teen USA National Director Crystle Stewart is the 9th Miss USA from Texas. Miss Texas USA 2022 screams Miss Universe to me.

Honestly, As a Filipino. I don't think Team Filipinas is Filipino because we don't usually say the term "Filipinas" and I have only seen it used by foreigners. In the Philippines, we only say the Philippines, Filipino, and Pilipinas. But Filipinas isn't really used or even in schools.
But even if she/he is a Filipino, that doesn't excuse his/her actions or words.

Hi, Devonna. Number 7's National Costume is what we called ''TIKBALANG''. A mythical creator which is partly horse and partly human. In the Philippines, if you went to a forest or a place and you get lost, we said, NATIKBALANG KA, meaning, you were played by this mythical creature. Hence, you need to wear your clothes the opposite so you can find the way out. That amazing NatCos was designed by Paolo Ballesteros. He is a versatile actor, make up artist, and a TV Host <3
