  1. Simon, parents killing their children is way more common than stranger abductions resulting in murder. In 98% of cases, the kidnapping or murderer is a parent or a close family member. The most disturbing part of this is the 6 year old “beauty queen” did anyone say grooming?

  2. Siblings can totally accidentally hurt each other. I vividly remember mum telling my brother not to jump off the couch and onto a beanbag. He didn’t listen and kept on. I pulled the beanbag away as he jumped and he landed badly and heavily sprained/twisted his ankle. I was packed off to the chemist for an ice pack and compression bandage. I was crying the whole way there and back. I never thought he’d be hurt by it but shit happens and he’s lucky he didn’t break his foot.

  3. Simon barely gets through the note and already comes up with the most widely held theory. I think that says a lot about how frustrating this case is. Everyone can see how this being a cold case didn’t add up. The parents know what happened to her

  4. Parents may never admit they have favourites and mine are no different but as the only daughter (and the eldest) my last family vacation was when I was 18. After that I has to stay home and look after the house and the pets. Even to this day, of my parents go away they don’t ask either of my brothers – one lives too far away (an hour) and the other has a kid. But no, their single daughter can do it. In a lot of family photos I might be next to my dad but his arm stretches beyond me to one of my brothers. It hurts. I can see I’m def not the favourite.

  5. Yes whether they admit it or not yes they have favorites…I wasn't the fave now I am but I don't deal with them to care I'm 33…it changed when my sister had children (the kids aren't the issue)

  6. 39:00 … the son theory is one of the biggest theories. It’d be cool if you had some context before filming lol – then summaries would be possible (I know you mentioned you’re in the UK, so this is like as Phoebe from FRIENDS would say “this is brand new information” … I’m in Australia & was born in 87… so not long before this child… even though I was a kid in Australia when this happened I am very familiar with the story… it’s actually a shame it’s so well known, as POC children and women are killed everyday but there’s no fanfare like this blonde rich child.

  7. One of my favorite things is Simon talking to himself, something in third person, sometimes almost like two personalities arguing with each other. It makes some of these nasty ones slightly less soul crushing

  8. Yes to Murder Maps!! So good, they dive into the historical context too… Much more at play than just the crimes themselves. There was an episode that dives into new developments in forensic science which helped to catch the killer… or there was one where the historical context informed public perception. Very interesting.
