People were so naive during that time, you cant know what you don't know. Lisa Bonet was just doing what the industry made you think at that time, she was trying to be free & advance her career I think as a serious actress. But the industry is really trash.. & they just wanted to trash the idea of the Cosby vision. In the 80's not many blacks on much tv or film. I think Lisa was taken for a ride on that crazy film. She probably didnt realize the set up .. she looked really young next to grisly Mickey Rourke. The industry is sick & it was also a way to pull apart the idea that was being promoted by Cosby then that african americans could raise successful families & have parenting skills. I mean look at the shows after that period..anything to keep dignity off of tv.
I have always thought she was beautiful not just because if her looks but because she was always herself! She is so unique.

I think in light of cosbys own public issues/jail time etc that firing Lisa was wrong even though they were years after the fact but still. I get the whole business/brand thing but she was an actress and like most she didn’t want to be characterized as this good girl especially since she knew she wanted to explore other roles. Black entertainers have always had it hard weather you were “wholesome” or not.

Lisa is iconic! Just absolutely stunning! I adore her fashion style. I loved her on the Cosby Show as a little girl. I believe the show had already when I was a kid but I would watch reruns. Denise was my favorite character on the show despite that I'm closer in age to Raven Simone.
Lenny's album Mama Said explores the death of his beloved mother and the end of his marriage with Lisa. It is a beautiful album. Highly recommend.

This is what I’m confused about with this video and the comments. Cosby preached respectability politics heavily for our community and punished those who didn’t fit the mold. (There’s a bit in Eddie Murphy’s Raw where he talks about Cosby coming down on him about his style of comedy.) While Cosby was busy condemning the Black community, he was committing unspeakable acts on numerous women AND it was an open secret in the comedy community (there’s an interview with DL Hughley where he’s discussing it and don’t forget how Hannibal Buress brought it back to the public’s attention.) The cast of a Different World AND Debbi Allen all say that Lisa was treated very unfairly by Cosby and Debby has said that he had a weird obsession with her. But we’re going to act like his firing of her was business, not personal? When she was MARRIED when she got pregnant? (Which is what he preached anyway?) And we’re going to act like he didn’t blackball her career? If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck.
Growing up in the 80’s I always felt like Lisa was different. That she was drastically different in real life that what her role permitted on Cosby. She always felt like the wildcard LONG before any of this happened. Maybe I picked up on that energetically. But I’ve always loved her uniqueness, and individualism. But I never heard about the movie, so yes, I could see why Cosby would make that business decision, as it was in the 80’s.
Met Bill Cosby about six months ago and he was in recovery just come out of jail and he look like a f**** madman he was with two other people sitting in a park on my way to visit a friend…Lee highway near the Pentagon I don't know what he was doing an Asian man and woman in wheelchair smoking. Should have took a pic but in a hurry. Weird scary he looked at me with contempt after all those years supporting and cheering him. I told him I prayed he'd get out of jail and he did! Godfelt energy but he looked at me as if I was the cause of his dilemma. I guess he was in therapy but he didn't speak a word to me but irie. I always appreciate a video on Lisa Bonet, but in a magazine interview she confirmed she eats beef occasionally. Her friend, actress Marisa Tomei interviewed her and she said she started eating beef "helped" during her last pregnancies. She also said she doesn't eat a lot of fish. Something about she got mercury poisoning or something so she doesn't eat too much fish. Lastly, I've heard Lisa say in two interviews that she grew up without a father so not sure where the info came from in this video that she had a relationship with her father.
