  1. I’ve been watching Miss America, since 1996, and I’m disappointed in the 100th anniversary show. It’s going to take someone special and passionate about the organization to step in and turn it around from the grave.

  2. I suffered through the competition. So sad when I remember how grand Miss America was “back in the day.” I wholeheartedly agree that if you remove areas of competition (swimsuit and evening gown), you have to ADD something…otherwise it’s a glorified job interview and absolutely painful to watch. I think there’s room for Miss America to become a very different sort of pageant, but they need to figure out WHAT that is, cause this sure isn’t it.

  3. This was supposed to be the 100th Miss America & neither NBC and/or ABC, the 2 networks that have broadcasted the most of the Miss America pageants since ABC aired the first televised Miss America on September 11th, 1954 (Miss America 1955, which was won by Lee Merriwether – who was a very successful actress & little known fact – her daughter, Kyle, was a sub model in the 80s and 90s on "The Price Is Right").

This so-called elementary school musical production was the WORST in history and sadly, ranks up there with Miss America 1952. That's when the winner, Miss Alabama, Yolande Betbeze, absolutely refused to be photographed in the sponsor's swimsuit, as had been the tradition since the first pageant and what happened … The company that sponsored the swimsuits used in the Miss America Pageant, Catalina, were so pissed that they withdrew their sponsorship and decided to start their own pageant, which became Miss USA.

This train wreck is just as bad as what this country did to THE MISS AMERICA of them all, the stunning, beautiful, talented, wonderful young woman who was attending Syracuse University and then became Miss New York 1984 & then blew away the competition to become the first-ever black woman to win the crown, Vanessa Williams (LOVE HER). Then, photographs that she did not give permission to be published, was sold by the snake that took the photos to Penthouse Magazine. Which of course, white America lost their fucking minds and now they had the perfect "reason" why Vanessa should no longer be Miss America. The pain, anguish that the public did not on to her but to her mother (fucking disgusting), this shitshow was even worse than that.

And probably the BIGGEST fuck-up of the night – saying that the winner of Miss America was going to receive (since scholarship money is the only prize given here) a $1,000 (ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?) scholarship (To make it to the national stage at Miss America, each state winner now receives a $3,000 scholarship), when the actual amount was $100,000 … COME ON … SPECIFICALLY when the TWO hosts of the pageants are FORMER FUCKING MISS AMERICAs themselves (Nina Davuluri won as Miss Michigan to be crowned Miss America 2014 & Erica Dunlap – interesting fact – when I lived in Fort Lauderdale in the early 2000s, I used to work with Erica's mother and when I said that to the group of people I was watching that year's pageant with in Salt Lake City thought I was bullshitting them until I said her mother's name and then about a minute later, Erica said her mother's name. Erica was Miss Florida 2004 & won Miss America 2004).

I have a sad feeling that this may be the first major pageant to go belly up. I think my IQ dropped 20 points just by forcing myself to watch the full show on YouTube!

  4. Miss world is way more entertaining than miss america😂🤦 miss america will be dying if they dont do anything just like miss world the most boring international pageant. (Thank god the crowning moment is entertaining and better as the queens have the best reign)

  5. Miss America should send their winners to Miss World since both are actually the same (no actual competition at the final show except for qna). I know miss world is more about humanitarian and classic girl quality with soft attitude so i think miss america is basically the same as miss world.

  6. As I was a child, I knew about this Miss America and used to watch it. But I grew up and felt lucky watching more Miss USA and Miss Teen USA when my neighbors Dad would bring pre-recorded VHS tapes from the US to the Philippines with bunch of Pageants videos including Miss Universe back in the 90s and that's when I became a Pageant fan. Me and my friends then would play Miss Pageant games and I would always play Chelsy Smith and Miss North Carolina and Miss New Hampshire(that black woman who won I forgot the name but in the 90s) on a Miss Universe Pageant game because I didn't know yet the difference between the States in America and the countries. We would lift our shorts to make it look like a bikini for swimsuit competition and bring out blankets for the gown 🤭 and I always sucked at the q&a

  7. I’m a former pageant girl and have been watching these pageants for YEARS. Watching them is what inspired me to enter pageants. I remember when Miss America was a pageant we all looked forward to watching. In fact, one of the pageants I competed in was a preliminary to Miss America. Miss America was pure Americana.

I remember when the stage was huge, shiny floored stage, well lit, and the runway was long. It USED to be glamorous…with winning scholarships as an almost added bonus. As I posted to another such video about reviews of the Miss America pageant, women today know it’s not just about what we look like, but in the interest of fitness, empowerment, glamour, and pride in our physical presentations, what the hell is wrong with wearing a swimsuit? It could encourage pursuing fitness, not perfection, but efforts at getting and maintaining fitness. If not all the women have “swimsuit” bodies, use a variation, such as a fitness ensemble. That alone could encourage showing fit bodies at all sizes. But to remove it all together?

Additionally, if Miss America will be working with people in a variety of arenas, why not have a genuine evening gown competition? In that regard, why not have all the candidates present in an opening number in simple yet fashionable similar outfits. Give us a show. Give us something to look forward to (I.e. oh what will the gowns look like? What will the swimsuits be like?).

Why not tailor or promote the pageant or advertise it to women in high school who, if not for such a pageant as Miss America, they might not have been able to attend college? You need only look at the Miss Teen USA and see that there are so many articulate and accomplished teens who could use a scholarship to even be able to finance college.

I mean, this organization seriously needs to sit down with branding experts on how to revamp this pageant. And would someone explain to me, why is the lighting so bad? It is ALWAYS bad. This was the 100th anniversary of Miss America. This should have been BIG. There were just so many missed opportunities. I saw the pageant 2 years ago (watch it every year), and I too thought 😳 why are these beautiful evening gowns sitting on the floor?! And even then, you could barely see them 🙄 Yep, this pageant needs big help, and I hope it will turn itself around, because like baseball and apple pie, the Miss America pageant is, as mentioned part of Americana. I’d hate for young women coming up not getting to experience it. One final note. I feel there should be at least 6-7 Judges…and NOT just former Miss America title holders. Just saying.

  8. Actually to be technical it was Miss America 2022. Miss America usually crowns the winner for the next year. However your review is spot on and exactly how many of us feel about how the Miss America is now. I did not watch the competition and I still refuse to watch that failure of a show.

  9. I laughed so much at the end when the host said the winner got a 1,000 dollar scholarship to continue her studies 🤣🤣🤣. Everything that could go wrong in Miss America did go wrong, it was a complete train wreck. The organization doesn't show any respect for the contestants putting up a shit like that like for real.
