The Miss Jamaica pageant’s predecessor, the “Miss Jamaica Contest”, dates back to the 1930s. The winner of Miss Jamaica represents Jamaica at the Miss World pageant from 1978–present. The title of Miss Jamaica World was officially coined in 1978. The 1976 and 1977 representatives were appointed by then license holder Mickey Haughton-James of Spartan Health Club. Spartan held the franchise from 1976 to 2012. And resumed its leadership in 2017.
Jamaica sent its first representative to Miss World in 1959. To date Jamaica has now won four Miss World titles (1963, 1976, 1993, and 2019).

the funny thing about it is y'all talking about Rita and Cindy again and again but when bob said woman was there to multiply bob said he did not believe in marriage if bob was alive up until this day, he would have more children with different women so why people here acting as if he was loyal to bought woman lol. talking about who he loves and who he didn't loved. bob was a young man he wasn't serious when bob cheat he doesn't hide bob was out there proving a point, bob even have children that we don't know about yet one these women should have none they were just baby carriers.

Nonsense! Patsy Yuen was officially Miss Jamaica 1973 and she was gorgeous! All the winners between 1950s ( Judy Verity 1955) to 1974 were all officially Miss Jamaica when the pageant was run by the Jaycees or the Government. They were not simply 'representatives' of Jamaica. This is before Miss Jamaica World started in 1978.

Great video! I showed this to my grandma who was a pageant fan back in those days and these are the summarized version of some her comments:
She started by saying that back in the days Jamaicans were incredibly more passionate about pageants and stuff like that.
Debbie Campbell was apparently the underdog in her year and she winning Miss Jamaica was a huge shock to everyone. Some people were mad, but Debbie proved herself at Miss World.
Sandra Cunningham was booed relentlessly after winning Miss Jamaica because the crowd favorite didn't win that night. Sandra didn't let it faze her too too much and went on to do well at Miss World.
She said Cornelia Parchment was incredibly beautiful, but she started getting a bit heavier when Miss World was approaching and that it probably was why she was unplaced.
Cathy Levy not winning Miss World was surprising since everyone thought she had it locked
Allison Barnett was the clear favorite and had the Miss World crown in the palm of her hands before she fumbled the Q and A
She said Lisa Mahfood was also relentlessly booed and that people were throwing stuff on the stage and that she couldn't even do her victory walk because of it
Natasha Marcanik was not bad at all, but the crowd felt that the 1st runner up would have faired better.

She pointed out that Michelle Moodie did win Caribbean Queen of Beauty. She also said that she felt that Michelle's beauty and sex appeal would have done her wonders at Miss Universe. Cuz y'know Miss World likes the demure girls, something Michelle was not… Kinda like Yendi in a sense
If I was your lecturer on this research project I would give you a B. We cannot claim to have 4 Miss World and not include those from the 1959 to 1974. I want to see all Miss Jamaica World and not because they were not placed, there should still be a video presentation on them as well, as some of them have gone on to do great things like Imani Duncan. You also have some of your placements wrong….

At last u get it correct this time..the other time you got me confused with girls from the Miss Univeres Jamaica pagant…even thou i know some of those girls double up in both contest…but did the correct thing now….What you can do next is the Miss Univeres Jamaica segment now…..but well done on yr research by getting it right…
