My best all time black gown would be Miss USA 's gown in MU 2007! Coincidentally her gown at Miss USA would be the best red gown as well for me!

Winners crowned in black gowns are rare. The last time it happened was way back in 1982. 2007 Royo Moriโs gown was not all black.

I won the National United States pageant in a black Portia and Scarlett gown in 2020 ๐ฅฐ I also won best gown in 2014 in a black gown for a local MAO pageant ๐

Ms. Dani, Mariaโs gown ( Miss Universe Thailand 2017) during the Miss Universe 2017 was also stunning and I personally think that the gown she wore is one of those gowns that incorporated thai culture and modern styling/fashion.

Georgia's dress and look was so old Hollywood to me! Namibia dress was stunning. And I love love love Japan's! I am so surprised not more contestants wear black! LBD but I have never worn a black gown! My go to was always red and white!
i would never wear a black gown at an international competition since it is the color the translators use so they don't call any atention to themselves

Personally, talking about black gowns, I love prelims gown of Indonesia and final gown of Thailand in Miss Universe 2016 edition.

I think Japan's "robe" is like a styled Kimono jacket. As for black or dark-colored gowns, I really like the gowns worn by Miss Thailand 2016 and Miss Thailand 2017 in the finals. In 2016, their gown is inspired by a gown once worn by a royalty in Thailand. The cultural influence is definitely there and it was gorgeous. Then in 2017, an ultra-modern gown was worn for the finals. Again, it stood out and is one of my favorites. I know people are saying it's navy-blue, but on TV it looked more black than navy blue.
