Each Miss Universe pageant provides a near-endless supply of facts, stats and nerdy trivia for me to discover. Of course, not every piece of information is useful or even interesting, but I’ve spent the best part of a week trying to package that up for you.

And furthermore, the facts and figures around beauty pageants isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but presumably if you’re reading this description you must be remotely interested.

I’ve gotta say I’m pretty happy with all the content I’ve thrown together for this summary of the 72nd Miss Universe, so I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did making it!

  1. Interesting how in 1969 to 1972, Australia inched closer and closer to the crown, second runner up 2 years in a row, then a first runner up in 1971 and winning the crown in 1972.

  2. Another fun fact: Since 1967, with the EXCEPTION of Shawn Weatherly, EVERY Miss Universe who represented USA not ONLY WON under a Democratic president, but so did her successor!
    1967 and 1968: Sylvia Hitchcock(USA) and Martha Vasconcellas(Brazil)
    1995 and 1996: Chelsi Smith(USA) and Alicia Machado(Venezuela)
    2012 and 2013: Olivia Culpo(USA) and Gabriela Isler(Venezuela)
    2022 and 2023: R’Bonney Gabriel(USA) and Sheynnis Palacios(Nicaragua)

  3. With the exception of Nicaragua who jump from top 40 in Miss World to win Miss Universe, all the other crossovers basically got the same results from their previous pageants.

  4. It's El tucuya now (I feel like I spelled that all wrong) but it used to be called the Ruthie award and I have no idea why. I feel like you can get to the bottom of that. Thanks for being awesome! Love your content 😊

  5. Your job is perfect, but Colombia had 11 finalist in top 3. (1. 1958 Luz Marina Z (W) – 2. 1986 Maria Mónica U (2nd RU) – 3. 1990 Lizeth M (2nd RU) – 4. 1992 Paola Turbay (1st RU) – 5. 1993 Paula Betancurt (1st RU) – 6. 1994 Carolina Gómez (1st RU) – 7. 2008 Taliana Vargas (1st RU) – 8. 2014 Paulina Vega (W) – 9. 2015 Ariadna Gutierrez (1st RU) – 10. 2016 Andrea Tovar (2nd RU) – 11. 2017 Laura González (1st RU)).

  6. Who knew cold, sober facts and numbers could be equally entertaining in pageantry? Giving in to drama and speculation is the bread and butter of most pageant sites but the TPN brand always delivers indisputable information you can rely on.
A suggestion for a future episode: A breakdown of the lineup of judges (and their nationalities) per year and if there is a correlation between which delegates eventually score high and advance. It would be intriguing to track whether national pride or biases play a part in the selection process – or not.

  7. Here's a strange coincidence you might have missed out on:

In 2003, a Central American country (Panama) hosted the pageant for the second time (the first being in 1986). The host delegate placed, and the eventual winner was a delegate from a Latin American country that has never entered the top 5 before, let alone won Miss Universe (Dominican Republic).

Fast forward 20 years later, and a Central American country (El Salvador) hosted the pageant for the second time (the first being in 1975). The host delegate placed, and the eventual winner was a delegate from a Latin American country that has never entered the top 5 before, let alone won Miss Universe (Nicaragua).

It's fascinating how history likes to repeat itself in the most subtle ways. 😅

    Great video, as always! ❤

  8. Miss Nicaragua, now Miss Universe, has been the most glamorous Miss in recent years. A SHOCKING presence on stage, unprecedented elegance and delicate beauty. Now I understand why the majority of Missologists had her as the winner. Miss Thailand was very beautiful but she DID NOT LOOK THAI. Miss NICARAGUA swept the stage from the moment she stepped on.

  9. If rumors are true about who’s expected to compete at Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2024 we can expect their 7th consecutive placement and potential 3rd consecutive top 5 🥳🇵🇷 you heard it here first!! ❤
