There is a difference in being mean and being honest. I am a firm believer in an honest review it helps an author grow. That said, I think this is a good book. A few spots where less is more could be implemented. I found myself trailing off from time to time. That said overall it was a solid 7. With a few changes it could be an 8-8.5.

It is so refreshing to listen to the trained readers engaged by Audible.
Each work of fiction is thus rendered in a way that conveys its full power.
Sadly, many masterworks recorded on YouTube are not of "Audible's" quality in that the readers are volunteers who, well intentioned though they might be, and who are certainly to be commended for sacrificing their time and effort to read for the public, since diction, intonation, vocabulary and a host of other skills taught within acting studios, and and other communication training formats tend to be absent, many masterworks are presented in such a way on YouTube that diminishes their intended impacts. Further, many of the masterworks, once recorded,are subsequently considered "DONE," and no other recordings of professional quality (such as this recording by Ms. Roman) are recorded. and made available to the public through YouTube. Again, high praise for Ms. Roman who does an excellent job here, thus making Amy Gentry's work glow from beginning to end.
Narration could be better
50 mins in And we’re still in flashbacks… I don’t have the patience to wait for the plot to start, I’m giving up. I like the narrator though.
