Hi bweks. You asked if Ahtisa would still win Miss Universe Philippines if she did not compete in any pageant previously. Let me quote what Luis Portelles commented about Ahtisa whom he placed as 5th in his top 5, and the reason being, I believe him. Ahtisa has a legacy to live up to. the only way for her to go is up because if she ends as anything other than a winner, she will be scoring a lower ranking than when she competed in Bb. Pilipinas and Miss International. Miss Universe is a radically different pageant system, and although you can tell she put in a lot of work to adapt, to evolve, Ahtisa was able to keep her essence. Meaning that, when he looks at her when he listens to her he still see the same woman who competed at the Binibini, Miss International, perhaps just a newer version of herself. He added that in his opinion, Ahtisa is not a Miss Universe prototype although he acknowledge what is even the Miss Universe prototype anymore in the new era of MU with new ownership. Performancewise, Ahtisa is still being outshined by some other contenders in the competition.
I would like to add to what Luis said. In 2018, Ahtisa was outshined by Catriona Gray I watched them compete and she was way behind Catriona Gray in communications skils, bearing, self confidence and beauty. She bothched a very simple question and in the middle of answering she lost her trend of thought and that was the local Bb. Pilipinas pageant. In MIss International, the questions were given to candidates before the question and answer portion of the competition so Ahtisa was able to give a perfect answer that got her first runner up. In my opinion, Alexie Brooks, Chelsea Manalo, VVV, Matea Mahal Smith, Christy MacGarry, Elle Hollman have better communications skills than her as well as any one of them can compete in Miss Universe and make us proud. Right now Alexie Brooks is the most popular candidate in the competition. In so short a time she has garnered a huge fanbase over and above the other leading contenders. If she can do that with Filipinos at home and abroad, you can just imagine how she will translate that in the international stage. As far as I'm concerned, Alexie is Miss Universe Philippines 2024. Sorry for the long answer. I got carried away……lol
