I must be out of my mind or running out of ideas: WE ARE DOING A MISFITS FIEND FASHION DEVILOCK HAIR PAGEANT!!! TO ENTER – SEND ME YOUR SKULL AND A VIDEO (could be shot a on cellphone.) Make a video with your cellphone to show off your devilock as well as sing and answer the question and send it to VIDEO BUSINESS MEDIA (AT) GMAIL DOT COM. Send the video however you like, by doing so, THIS is how you enter the contest in the first place…
THE RULES:
1. You Devilock DOESN’T HAVE TO BE made out of hair, it just needs to look like a Devilock on your head.
2. You can fashion the Deviled Lock on your head ANYWAY you would like to. EXTRA POINTS for creativity… You can make it part of a costume… Whatever you wanna do. There will be 2 categories: “Creativity” and “Finesse.”
3. You CAN sing your favorite Misfits song in a DIFFERENT style or genre of music. It can be to music or acapella. If you DON’T want to sing, you can still enter, but this will be taken in or out of consideration during the judging of the contest. This is a way to make the contest more fun.
4. Make a video with your cellphone to show off your devilock as well as sing and answer the question and send it to VIDEO BUSINESS MEDIA (AT) GMAIL DOT COM. Send the video however you like, by doing so, THIS is how you enter the contest in the first place…
5. WEDS APRIL 21ST SHOW will feature myself and the panel of judges I pick – I will not be a judge. Just the MC. And we will watch your videos LIVE ON THE AIR and rate them to determine WHO IS THE MOST FIENDISH OF ALL.

What is a Devilock? From Wikipedia: The devilock is a hairstyle created by Misfits bassist Jerry Only in the late 1970s. In an early 1980s interview, Only claimed that the devilock was based on a “tidal wave” hairstyle seen among the 1970s skateboarding communities. In the same interview, former Misfits vocalist Glenn Danzig explains that his version of the hairstyle developed from an imitation of Eddie Munster’s hairstyle. A style similar to the Devilock was sported earlier – for instance the Surfari’s cover picture of ‘Gum-dipped Slicks’ (1964) shows a member of the band with a devilock-like quiff, as did the guitarist from the contemporaneous Tornadoes of Bustin’ Surfboards fame.

In a devilock, the sides and back of the hair are kept short, while the front is kept long and combed forward. In the late 1990s, the devilock experienced a resurgence of popularity in Asian markets that saw the hairstyle spread from punk rock to mainstream culture. Following popularization in Japanese and Chinese rock groups, the hairstyle’s name was appropriated by Noriaki Endo in his chain of retail clothing stores. The “Devilock” brand currently sponsors music events called “Devilock Nights” throughout Southeast Asia.
