You should try Davinci resolve. They had a free and paid version. I’ve never had an issue with files going missing with big videos. I edit for a YouTuber and the longest video was 40 minutes long and I never had an issue using that program

fellow content creator, I love watching your content, I used to have the same problem with my MacBook with editing longer videos, and I switched to a iMac, as I noticed you have one, Final Cut Pro works amazing on the iMac as long as you update your computer when needed, love too help out other creators when I can, hope you have an amazing holiday and I give my condolences to all of your beloved pets
