ABOUT THIS EPISODE:
Pageant interview is the only phase of competition that happens behind closed doors, so it’s hard to know what to expect in there. Especially if you’ve never really seen it done right. There are the obvious expectations of format, like sitting, standing, 1:1, panel; and the physical environment like if the interview will be in a hotel conference room or a school cafeteria and whether or not there will be a podium or other props. That stuff is good to know. I recommend asking your director all those questions before you get to the pageant so you have an idea of what to expect. But still, regardless of all those things, there are some universal truths that you can expect. That’s what we’re about to discuss. If you know these universal expectations, then it won’t matter the setting or format – you’ll be able to rock your interview!

  1. I noticed that they almost always ask why you want to be 'said title holder'. It was very weird when I went into the room. After I had answered why I wanted to be Miss Nigeria, out of nowhere one of the female judges asked me what were my views on piercings and tattoos? Like seriously! I was really surprised

  2. So a thing that came unexpectedly to me was that after winning the pageant I was asked about my feelings after winning & there I did speak rubbish like words were not clear grammatical errors ! I dont know how that happened ! I didnt realise there on stage what I spoke but when watching the videos I realised & got immensely embarrassed !

  3. The one that i delivered my answer in our own language here in the philippines instead of speaking in english, i know to myself that i have delivered my answer good but aint enough for the tabulator and i think thats okay.

  4. This is to ask you for a help regarding body postures. Would you please guide regarding how should the sitting posture be for interview!
Also I would really be thankful if you also help me to understand the difference between ramp walk like a model and a beauty queen.

  5. Hey Alycia,
I am going to fill the entry form of Miss India and they have asked me to give 3 pictures that is a headshot, mid length and a full length picture ..can you please suggest me what kind of clothes and makeup should I keep for the best results.

  6. Hii alycia..You are amazingg n I love the way u make things simpler😘 ..I have been following you ever since I have decided to participate in Mrs.India World..I wanted you to give some information about what kind of general knowledge do judges expect a potential pageant winner to know ..Pls help me with this one ..thank you ma'am 😊

  7. I know you haven’t posted recently but I really want to say thank you for these videos and your online courses! I competed in pageants when I was younger but never won any big titles or awards. Recently, I’ve jumped back into the pageant world and was completely unready for my first pageant as a Miss. This year I wanted to be prepared and started watching your videos and emphasizing focus on my interview. This year I won best interview (with a perfect score) and ended up placing first runner up overall! Thank you so much for these informational videos! I’ve really learned so much about myself and have expanded my knowledge and feel a little more comfortable walking into the interview room!

  8. I can barely remember what happened at my first interview. I only remember that question I wasn't prepared for. What is the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to me. I couldn't think of a pageant appropriate answer

  9. the number one thing that took me by surprise was the lack of expressions on the judges face. I'm a bit animated when I talk in that I am really smiley and usually all adults I talk to have a lot of expressions or else smile a lot too, so I was surprised how dead pan (so to speak) everyone was and how it almost felt like I was talking to a wall. Thank you for your videos!!

  10. The one thing that's totally surprised me is that I've won interview side awards in every pageant (except one- although interview was my highest scoring round) I love to talk and meet people and I never feel nervous. I think my natural ability to communicate with others and positivity really helps me do well in this area. I think one tip I would always give is to just think positively and try not to worry! I love your podcasts and YouTube videos! Lots of love from Scotland 💕
