Who’s the six gun packin dude on the back of the convertible?
chevyat ?
Real race cars, real drivers, and real women!!!
And now, the era has almost come to an end. Woke NASCAR won’t make it. How many young backyard mechanics are there these days? Good music -gone. Hot Rods – gone. Girls – gone. Freedom – gone. Money – gone.
peak nascar. lot of single file no pass same old boring everything the same for everyone snoozefest.
Wish I could visit that era again, with my Dad, when the grandstands were hard, the bathrooms were crude, and the engines were so freaking loud!
When you see a side by side comparison of NASCAR in this video vs. the NASCAR of today there is NO wonder why I, and many other fans like me, have totally turned off today's NASCAR product. The drivers were "Men." Now they are just a bunch of rich, bankrolled, little boys, both figuratively and literally. The Cars were Real Racing Beasts and now they're just snap together cookie cutter toys. Everything was real. The Cars, The Drivers, The Fans and most of all, The Racing. Today it's manufactured "Entertainment" being ruled by gimmicks and WOKE ideology.
The tracks were rough in those days. Didn’t have the multimillion dollar corporate money yet. More fun
real NASCAR died when Dale Earnhardt Sr. died. RIP Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Those Fords are pieces of sh^t.
Somehow they neglected to show the Superbird…which probably hit speeds of over 180mph. Whoever made this video is a puke. Look at all the Superbirds and Daytonas right up front.
I'll take a 1970 Doge Challenger and number 7 in the "miss southern 500" contest!
I can't believe how "country" everyone looked in 1970. I was a senior in high school in 1970, and I lived in the south, but I don't remember us all looking so hokey. I was one of them so I guess I did. lol
What a cool video. Please show us more of those old races.
The good old days of Nascar where the real legends were born.
Incredible footage, and back when Nascar was worth watching. Thank you!
Was at the old track for several races and the loud echo in those covered grandstands was deafening!!!
those cars were much more menacing than those of today.
Oh how tech has grown.145 MPH–my Kona N would stomp these cars
Nasty/dirty drivers, dirty driver suits, shoes that were whatever the driver wanted to wear, raw big block power, blue collar money… Isnt this refreshing?!! NASCAR has become so white collar now days. Just not fun anymore in my own opinion. I miss these days of old.
I miss the real NASCAR racing.
Plenty of enemy flags present but by 1970 they seem to not feature the Christian conservatives in black face like they did earlier in the decade.
Life was a Tim Allen moment in those days.
Before the Karens and the snowflakes conquered the world and turned it into a global HOA.
Tales from the old free America.
It was a time when giants walked the earth.
great, no isues with the ol' flag either ,the good ol' days; the good ol' boys !! what times.
The good old days. So much better than the garbage they have today. Real cars, not a bunch of cookie cutter machines with stickers.
What a time to be alive! The cars, the music, the girls. The Fords were faster in a straight line by virtue of a 15-20 hp advantage but the Chryslers had downforce front and rear and were more stable and faster in the corners.
The production was like watching Adam 12 or Dragnet, drama building to enhance the entertainment. Wow memories that can't be forgotten.
Boy these dodges was fast and they looked great to .
Back then there was a lot of cheating going on . Engines was modified on the insides that would not meet regs . This announcer was right vary good drives did not have the money to buy the vary best or could cheat . So they had to drive what they have and loose . The inspectors did not pass them by like they did with top dollar drivers . Race car was a sham then and still is to this day .
Now the beauty queens' are not women it is men . This country went to hell in a hand bag or purse to some men .
That starting line up worth a couple hundred grand. That exact line up today would be worth a couple hundred million!
I think this was when G.M. had the racing ban on. That’s probably why so few were there.
Wasn't Marty Robbins in this race? And I loved seeing Johnny Reb flying that flag of treason in the winners circle! Man, what nostalgia! Back whan a white man was a real white man!
It did race in one single race in 1971. And the Mustang fastback won, with Bobby Allison driving. Why didn't it continue to race. ??
Good old days when they raced real car dealership automobiles in Nascar. I'm curious why the Mustang fastback was never in Nascar. 🏁🏁🏁
The NASCAR of my youth. When it was real. I gave up on the new improved WWF//Young Guns/2 and 3 part races/The Chase NASCAR 20-odd years ago. No regrets. And no longer a waste of a Sunday afternoon.
Outstanding piece!
Great to watch all the reruns for free i used to watch every year till they took it off free to air tv
I miss that America.
We really did not know at the time how significant this period of Nascar was. Factory sponsored teams running factory equipment. No restrictor plates…… Looks like the Holman-Moody prepped Boss 429 had a few more horespower over the Chrysler Hemi! Chrysler winged cars = aerodynamic advantage. Ford Boss 429s = horsepower advantage.
