The Miss America Organization apologized to Ms. Williams when she appeared on the Miss America pageant a few years ago. Vanessa Williams is thee Miss America. Goes to show that success is the best revenge. She didn't need that crown to define who she is.
I was in junior high when the scandal happened. And I remember my brother who was in college bought the Penthouse with her in it. And yeah they definitely weren’t tasteful shots. But like you said if Vanessa had been white it would of been a different story. And they would of covered it up and paid to delay them getting shown OR they would of killed the story completely. I remember hoping that this wouldn’t prohibit any other black women from winning Miss America ever again.
