Miss Universe 2015 was the 64th Miss Universe pageant, held on 20 December 2015 at The AXIS in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. Paulina Vega of Colombia crowned her successor Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines at the end of the event. 80 contestants competed for the crown.
This was the first edition of the Miss Universe pageant to be held under the ownership of WME/IMG, which purchased the Miss Universe Organization from Donald Trump on 14 September 2015, three days after NBCUniversal sold him its 50% interest in the organization in exchange for Trump’s dropping a breach of contract lawsuit he filed against the media company in August for terminating NBC’s contract to televise the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants. Consequently, it is also the first Miss Universe event to be aired by Fox and Azteca, which replaced NBC and UniMás (the respective parents of both networks, NBCUniversal and Univision Communications) as the pageant’s respective English and Spanish broadcasters. The latter networks terminated their rights to the pageant in response to statements about Mexican immigrants made by Trump during a speech on 16 June.
The broadcast received worldwide media attention due to Steve Harvey’s mistake when announcing the name of the winner. When announcing the winner, Harvey announced Ariadna Gutiérrez, Miss Colombia, as the winner. As she was being crowned, Harvey stepped in and said he had to apologize. He continued on to say that Miss Colombia was instead the first runner up and Miss Philippines was the actual winner. it’s already 2021 now, it so happened i accidentally pass/see this here at YouTube-this 2015 ms.universe – the most controversial series of the yearly competition – does anyone noticed this…every time the newly Ms.Universe were announced usually all of the ladies comes to her to congratulate her…howcome nobody moves,they’re all standing still…does that means they knew that Steve’s announcement is wrong.
