Miss Universe Philippines national director Shamcey Supsup had a ready answer when asked on Thursday, September 14, why the pageant is still not accepting trans women applicants despite the international organization’s earlier move to do so.

Supsup explained that while the Miss Universe Organization allows trans women to join the international competition, one of the requirements is “they have to be female in their legal documents, including passport.”

“But the Philippines, right now, does not allow a change in your gender in your legal documents,” she said.

  1. Let's accept no matter how transgender change their physical they can't never be real woman who can bear a child and be a mother acceptance and respect is the only thing we can give for transgender

Equality should not discriminate others.

  3. Actually, I am disappointed by every woman joining the Miss U.
That pageant is just a shell of what it once was. By accepting men, it has degraded into a mere travesty of women.
It's just a stupid show now, and women don't even realize it.

  4. IT IS IS FAMILY CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES UNDER THE PHILIPPINES CONSTITUTION, Kung ano ang biological gender mo BY BIRTH is your LEGAL GENDER FOR LIFE IN ALL YOUR LEGAL AND GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS UNDER THE PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭 LAW. AT YUN LANG ANG IRERECOGNISE NG GOBYERNO NG PILIPINAS 🇵🇭🎗️ AT SA LAHAT NG LEGAL DOCUMENTS MO.

  5. I believe that the real concept of equality is giving everyone an opportunity to represent and celebrate their own community be it transgender, women and men. Miss universe is a celebration of women and miss international queen is also a celebration of women in their own community. Men, women and transgenders should have equal rights to represent their own and everybody should respect that. Leave the miss universe to women and the miss international queen to transwomen alone. Thats what equality is all about…

  6. Tama naman… On stage ang pangalan mo Fernanda… Pero paglabas mo ng stage… Ferdinand ulit… Baguhin muna ang batas to change gender in legal documents.

  9. Never! Never! accept transgender to the women beauty pageant! They already have their own … They cant change their look their DNA'S whatever they do…. look at the owner of Miss Universe he is still man changing your appearance doesn't make you a woman… DNA's will prove it

  10. Wag na lang. Transwoman still a man. No matter what. There is a proper venue for Transwomen. There is a proper pageants for them. Why not Miss Universe Transwoman or Miss Universe Trans

  11. Trans should have their own pageant…they are already accepted by the society but miss universe will lose its prestige if they will allow this to happen at the end of the day competition should be fair woman for woman trans for trans

Tapos pag di sila pinasali sasabihin “discrimination" they should also respect sa mga born woman talaga.. Di naman sa lahat ha, pero meron talagang iba ee. Marami namang pageant for them na sinusupport din ng mga Pinoy… Respect and Love!❤️

  13. Transwomen are men. Its an insult to women that men are considered more womanly than women especially on a woman's pageant. It's a woman's pageant. Only the stupid media pushes their own immoral agenda.

  14. So is MUPH creating sufficient awareness about the matter? What is the organization doing to push for political agendas that campions a more diverse and inclusive Philippine society? Words are nice but actions are what we need.

  15. If you are reading this Ms. Shamcey Supsup, please don't accept transgender, mothers, wives and women beyond 28 anymore. Don't get me wrong, I have high respects for our LGBTQIA brothers and sister, mothers, wives, etc. I don't want to be sound discriminatory but if you want to bring back the Miss Universe Philippines' prestige, class and alpha pageant status, then stick to SINGLE WOMEN ONLY which makes Miss Universe or Miss Universe Philippines the best pageant in the world and in the Philippines respectively.

When we heard the news that Miss Universe accepts women of all ages, I said that that will be the greatest downfall of Miss Universe. Too much inclusivity is a bad thing. There is no identity or branding anymore. Transwomen should have their own contest same with mothers, wives, women beyond 28. It is called PROPER CATEGORIZATION.

Maybe Khun Ann should create her own beauty contest and never tarnish the Miss Universe brand which has been known for being classy and prestigious for the past 70 years.
