  1. Moral: Avenging the death of a loved one will not bring them back. Revenge killing may have worked on TV or in the movies, but in truth you're only hurting yourself…and the people who care about you.

  2. Watching this episode and Partners (The Ed Ames episode) back to back as they originally aired is draining as they see both Gillespie and Tibbs confront their past with men (Gillespie's sheriff buddy, Tibbs' old partner) who had once been old friends, almost like family, and both links to happier days, and they both have to face hard truths about who their friends became. Both episodes practically end with the same image of either Carroll or Howard's faces in deep pain for what and who they have each lost.

  3. I dont care what anyone says, Howard Rollings was a beautiful man who put his heart and soul into acting. Its sad he did not win the oscar and emmy for his performances. Such a sad ending of this talented actor. RIP to him and the awesome cast of this show who are no longer with us.

  4. One of the finest shows to ever air on TV. Great actors, dialogue, locations, plots, twists and everything in between. The Sparta, Mississippi location used in the show is actually in Covington, Georgia. This location has also been used in films such as Friday the 13th Part VII as well as others. Hard to miss that big clock tower down the end of the street. 😊
