In this video, we discuss the big mistake that occurred during the Miss Universe 2015 pageant. In the final round, host Steve Harvey read the card wrong, and announced the wrong winner–Miss Colombia instead of Miss Philippines. He quickly realized his mistake, resulting in a very embarrassing situation. But in this video, we’ll find out why such a bad mistake is actually quite easy to make.

You can actually put the winner's name in the center of the card so that steve harvey wont mess around, for Christ sake!!!
10:30 I would shit all over people making this card. Absolutely atrocious. Do you also write the least important thing at the bottom of your resume? It's common sense. Also with the typo, do you leave typos in a resume? This is just pathetic. Your solution with the podiums are alright, it would definitely be a huge improvement. Although due to the nature that people in America read left to right, I would rearrange the podiums so 1st place is on the left, then 2nd, then 3rd. Alternatively, the best solution is just to list it from top to bottom:

I’m part of the Miss U Philippines org. Ive been watching Miss Universe since i was a Kid. And we were in the venue seating in the VIP seat during the finals night. If you all noticed when Colombia was announced as Miss Universe by Steve, the CAMERA went straight to Pia’s face (Miss Philippines) meaning the camera peepz was already notified that Philippines won. That’s on a technical view.
I was looking at the screen that time and not on the stage so i knew (we knew) our team something went wrong.
Also the winner will only take her first walk as the winner for like a minute where Colombia was making her first walk for like 4 minutes. Duh. Lol

Steve made a 'good' mistake in my opinion. It showed the other Miss Universe's personalities, specially Ms. Colombia. I'm saying this after watching Ms. Colombia's intervivews 🙁

I think Steve was just as nervous as Ms Philippines and Ms. Colombia… We sometimes tend to say something which actually is not what we wanted to say.. maybe.he's just so excited to announce the winner that something happened while processing what he's reading…or, .maybe his mindflow was distracted by so many factors…or maybe his subconscious mind brought him a year back when he announced Ms. Colombia as the winner😁😊

Whatis written in the card is very clear..very very clear..harvey here is very fool..even an elementary pupil can understand it…tanga lang talaga si harvey sa sitwasyon na ito
2nd place = 3rd runner up. I always was confused by this too. S Harvey was reading verbatim from the card and he didn't say "Miss" because it was not on the card. He was on auto pilot and nervous, thus he had no décision making abilities. He was distracted and out of it.
All he had to do was read the bottom of the card that said Miss Philippines is the winner. Its not hard.

Also they could've put the winner below the 1st Runner up…. Which is 2nd place….

The card still appeared clear who won which if he followed the order as written on the
card. He correctly read the second runner up. No need to explain Harvey's subconscious
crazy manipulations of the judges. For what reason he did that? Stupidity plain and simple.
There is NO confusion. On the right is a HUGE highlighted MISS UNIVERSE. And there are only the last 3. Common sense suggests that. You've just got to be stupid not reading it properly. Anyway, happy M. Philippines won

Miss Columbia has been shown (before this, idk how she is now) to be a quite rude/entitled person, in no way should this have happened to her but the contestants seemed more joyful/supportive that Miss Philippines won imo

After watching this. its clear to me that the designer of card is the one who we should blame. As a designer you should always know the importance of "meeting the needs of the users". We design to make things better and easy, and not confusing and complicating things. we should understand that clearly. and true designer will understand it very well
this man is a very great designer.
My first thought, too: poorly designed card. Also, there’s no need to indicate the 1st Runner Up to simplify the ultimate announcement.
